Responsibilities
Community Outreach

Lead strategic planning initiatives around AARP NJ outreach activity, working to develop and incorporate community outreach and multicultural efforts into all programming initiatives and community events, specifically in communities of presence.

Enhance engagement and participation strategies around local, county, and statewide outreach efforts.

Plan, implement and promote AARP NJ strategic plan goals and provide meaningful and diverse volunteer engagement opportunities.

Evaluate community outreach activities to assess the value and impact of those activities within the community, specifically to the 50+ population.

Cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with key external audiences and partners within the community to further advance impact and relevance of outreach initiatives.

Volunteer Engagement

Provide leadership and direction to the AARP NJ volunteer program and work to enhance systems, infrastructure and policy to build impactful geographic based volunteer networks.

Evaluate, assess, and modify volunteer support structures on an ongoing basis to meet the changing needs and priorities of internal and external stakeholders, volunteer leaders, and operational requirements. Assess volunteer experiences and resources to effectively manage activities, engagement programs, and other related initiatives.

Oversee strategy and implementation for volunteer involvement in major initiatives of the AARP State Office.

Cultivate meaningful opportunities for volunteers to provide professional expertise and volunteer service.

Implement tools and resources for volunteer training and development.

Administrative

Supervise and manage outreach team staff. Monitor workloads and operational plans of assigned team members to ensure optimal productivity levels and attainment of team and individual goals.

 

Requirements
 

Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in progressively responsible non-profit in event planning and volunteer management plus experience in a senior management and leadership role. Must have exceptional knowledge of the principles and practices of volunteer program management; knowledge of program planning, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation processes; ability to facilitate progressive change, think strategically and develop innovative solutions. Must possess excellent planning, organizing and leadership skills and proven ability to evaluate data, assess alternatives and make decisions and/or recommendations as required. Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Must be willing to travel, and work evenings and weekends as needed.
