Job Title:  Production Manager CATV


The Production Manager manages all On-Air-Broadcasting Operations, including coverage, post production and programming; possesses the ability to conceptualize, produce and carry out studio and field productions accordingly.  The successful candidate will have knowledge of media production, excellent customer service skills and will be comfortable communicating with individuals in leadership as well as non-profit organizations, residents and volunteers during production meetings and shoots.  Reports to the Director of Communications and provides updates on projects’ progress, equipment and software upgrades.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Oversees and manages all programming aired on Montclair’s Government Access Channels. Coordinates and executes (from pre to post production), any municipally sanctioned projects and programs produced by other parties. Responsible for channels’ program line up, bulletin board design and updates. Required to cover LIVE public meetings such as Council and Planning Board, as well as collaborate with the Montclair Board of Education to test and broadcast their live signal. The Production Manager is also responsible for programming logistics such as personnel and equipment necessary for operation of Montclair TV 34. In addition, the Production Manager performs troubleshooting, routine maintenance of facility and provides recommendations based on the station’s needs.

Required Sills:

Bachelor’s degree in Television Production/Digital Media; applicable experience may be considered in lieu of degree.  Three (3) years of experience in Television Production and Digital Media fields, in addition to experience in PEG Access Television, particularly Government. Must have proficiency on both PC and Mac platforms, technical experience in all areas of video production; experience with signal flow, including ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently and make recommendations. Must have experience in pre-production planning, story development, scripting and experience using television production equipment such as ENG style cameras, analog audio boards (Mackie, Ross, Pro-Vid), switchers (Tri-caster HD and SD), lighting equipment and non-linear editing software (Final Cut 7, Final Cut X, Motion & Corel). Familiarity with TelVue Hypercaster and InfoVue bulletin board system is required.  Will require off hours availability to work nights, weekends and holidays as situations warrant.

Salary:  DOQ, plus full benefits.
