February 12, 2026

Governor Sherrill announced actions focused on public safety and constitutional rights in New Jersey, signing Executive Order No. 12 to prevent federal immigration enforcement agents from staging operations on nonpublic state property without proper authorization. The administration also launched a multilingual “Know Your Rights” website and a new Attorney General portal allowing residents to submit reports or videos related to immigration enforcement interactions.

“I take seriously my responsibility to keep New Jersey residents safe,” said Governor Mikie Sherrill, noting that the executive order prohibits the use of state property for enforcement operations and provides residents with tools and information to understand and protect their constitutional rights.

“The Chamber remains committed to engaging constructively with leaders on issues affecting the safety, stability and economic growth of New Jersey businesses. We are grateful for Governor Sherrill’s leadership and continued focus on public safety. Hispanic entrepreneurs play a vital role in our economy, and ensuring their security and opportunity remains essential,” said SHCCNJ President Carlos Medina.
